John Lockwood describes himself as a serial entrepreneur. He founded, operated and sold two successful commercial cleaning chemical companies. He has worked for national and international companies in this industry in sales, service and multi-state Area Management for over 30 years. He loves his work; it allows him to interact with all types of people; everyone from the dishwasher to the owner of a multi-unit hotels or restaurant chain. His career has provided the opportunity to learn from many amazing mentors.
John, and his wife Renee, moved from Newport News to Barhamsville 20 years ago. John is still working full-time, but he fills every extra moment by volunteering at Proclaiming Grace Outreach’s “Grace Village Thrift”, tending to the needs of the nuns at the Monastery of Poor Clares and representing the 5th District on the New Kent Board of Supervisors for almost 4 years.
His decision to run for the Board of Supervisor seat comes from his sense of service to the community and his neighbors. Events in the Barhamsville area allowed John and Renee to get even more involved with their community, which he describes as an incredible group of like-minded, involved citizens. They got to know people that they would never have met and formed long-lasting friendships.
